Iron Horse (J Christie)

The group makes a welcome return to the charts with this remarkable tune that, again, shows off the Christie sound to its best. A twangy intro reminiscent of rolling locomotive wheels leads into a divine melody and beat that pulls in the listener straight away on first listen. This song about trains and locomotives is simply irresistible.
Lem Lubin was also introduced as a new member with this single, making Christie a foursome for the first time. In truth, Lem was recruited to play bass with the band on stage, and never featured on the actual recording of this song or the flipsides.

Iron Horse 1980s version (J Christie)

Jeff re-recorded Iron Horse in the 80s with a studio band and it was released on special compilation albums. This version is slightly slower than the original, with clearer diction.

Every Now and Then (V Elmes)

Another Vic Elmes song makes up the flipside, this one a rock offering based on a boppy beat. While Jeff's songs are often more melodious than Vic's efforts, Vic is clearly endeavouring to craft his pieces to suit the Christie style.

**Everything's Gonna Be Alright (J Christie)

In some countries, for example Italy and Yugoslavia, Everything's Gonna Be Alright was never released as a single A-side. Instead it was issued as the B-side to Iron Horse, making the product a very strong Christie single indeed.
